About ORBA
Membership
The Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) was formed in 1998 under the auspices of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). Since inception, ORBA has been working closely with STB on infrastructure improvements and has played an active role in enhancing the positioning of Orchard Road as one of the premier shopping streets / lifestyle hubs in the world.
Who we are
ORBA is composed of both stakeholders and non-stakeholders who have an affiliation to lifestyle business along Orchard Road. Our members include owners / management of shopping malls and departmental stores, leading retailers, hoteliers and restaurateurs.
There are currently more than 50 members in the Association. Some of Orchard Road's key players are represented in the Executive Committee (Exco), to which the administration of ORBA is entrusted. The Exco is headed by Mrs Sng Ngoi May, Executive Director of Orchard 290 Pte Ltd (Owner and Manager of Paragon Shopping Centre) as Chairman.
Our Objectives
- To study and improve the business environment of Orchard Road, through the creation of activities, business development, promotion and marketing.
- To facilitate new business collaboration and/or alliances between both stakeholders and non-stakeholders.
- To assist with Orchard Road's development, activities, and other public issues.
- To promote the welfare of businesses on Orchard Road.
- To represent members and deal with matters concerning the Association.
In line with our objectives, ORBA has organized and participated in various iconic tourism events such as the annual Christmas Light-up; Rev Up on Orchard during the SGP Season; The Longest Catwalk @ Orchard; and The Great Singapore Sale.
Major milestone events also include the Twinning of Ginza and Orchard Road in March 2002.
