Miu Miu

Miu Miu is all about the power of contradictions, surprises, conceptual short-circuits: the result is sensual as it is intellectual.
Avant-garde, often provocative, never obvious, Miu Miu is characterized by a very strong identity and an independent creative development.

Established in 1993, evoluted along the years, the Miu Miu alphabet has been put into acceleration when the label began showing in Paris.
Stressing both couture savoir-faire and playful experimentalism, Miu Miu explores fashion with a capital F, giving elegance and sophistication a twisted meaning.

Turning fashion into a state of mind, Miuccia Prada has built a world around Miu Miu.

Marni

A huge part of Marni magic and magnetism that have captivated Marni maniacs the world over is borne of the creative face-offs its designer Consuelo Castiglione executes with such insouciant aplomb, season after season, since its beginning in 1994. From surreal silhouettes, to clashing prints and random colour combinations, Castiglione has single-handedly cornered the market for quirky since its beginning in 1994. (If ever the fashion world required a literal representation of wearing eccentricity on your sleeves, Marni would be it.) Each design trait by itself may sometimes seem a little much to the untrained eye but the sum of its parts make up that inimitable Marni aesthetic that is at once forgiving of all body shapes and, at the same time, hides a multitude of physical flaws. Small wonder women love Marni.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

A diffusion line of the Marc Jacobs label, Marc by Marc Jacobs has become a cult in its own right. In the words of the designer himself, Marc is “all about the mix. It appeals to a group of people who have a high profile.” Anti-establishment, the line channels the youthful energy of the Big Apple and delivers collections, season after season, for the independent-minded, experimental, free-spirited and fashion-loving consumer. Marc comprises basics and separates for men and women that score high on the wearability, fun and fashionable indices. Easily one of the most coveted fashion lines that has as much drawing power as the main line.

The ION Orchard store will showcase Louis Vuitton’s first curved glass facade, inspired by the “folds of a scarf”. Lanvin

It’s a well-known fact that women – and men, for that matter – love, or shall we say, madly love Lanvin. Helmed by Alber Elbaz, currently one of the most influential forces in the fashion firmament, Lanvin designs super chic, ferociously hip and profoundly modern clothes that instantly prompt purchases because of their sheer desirability. (Grosgrain trim, toga drape-dresses, leopard print mania and synthetic fabrics, Albaz, who took over the house in 2001, almost single-handedly made them the rage, the dernier cri in fashion.) But don’t dismiss these as mere trend-setting looks; a Lanvin number is not only a triumph in design, reflecting Albaz’s talent for simplicity of forms and creative silhouettes, it’s also a study in technical brilliance. And if Lanvin’s creations have a timeless and cross-generational appeal – it’s no coincidence that the house logo is that of a mother and her daughter – even as hemlines, necklines and waistlines rose and fell, season after season, it’s because of Albaz’s passionate devotion to his craft. In an interview with The Independent (UK), he said his vocation was dressing women to perfection. “I remember a woman telling me that every time she wore a Lanvin dress, men wanted to sleep with her,” he had said. And the fairer sex has since returned the compliment many times over. Designed by Lucas Ossendrijver, Lanvin also offers a critically acclaimed and influential menswear line.

Jil Sander

Pure – not minimalist – would have been the perfect word to describe fashion brand Jil Sander. Conceived as a niche luxury house with a well-honed singular vision by its founder in 1968, the German label applies a consistent, almost Mies-ian approach, to fashion: The clothes may look deceptively simple and utilitarian, but upon closer inspection, each piece reveals master craftsmanship with a monastic rigour to detail. (Less is definitely more for Jil Sander.) Some critics have even compared a Jil Sander design to a treatise on form and function with a feminine softness to it. Whether it’s a crisp white Sea Island cotton shirt, an elegant cashmere coat with no obvious ornamental embellishments or an impeccably tailored trouser suit, the cuts, designs and proportions never fail to flatter. Which is why, season after season, there’s always been a cult and loyal following – the rich and the refined – to this fashion house. Currently helmed by Belgian wunderkind Raf Simons, fans of the label are drawn to its quietly idiosyncratic and directional but beautiful designs. The brand also rolls out menswear, fragrance as well as eyewear lines.

Issey Miyake

Constant quest to reinvent fashion is accompanied with interesting combination of eclectic style.
