Hairstyling’s Best Kept Secret – Style without the Pinch
It almost seems too good to be true: Stepping into a well-decorated downtown salon, greeted by genuinely friendly stylists, getting a fantastic cut, all with the hair dressing rates of the heartlands.
$15 for a haircut in a upmaket Orchard Road mall? Call it the needle in the haystack, the gem from the ocean, whatever the metaphor you choose, it surely is one of Orchard Road’s best kept secret.
Hair Inn was started by a pair of hairstylist sisters, Lea and Lily Ong, 13 years ago. Its first unit was in the CBD area – and became a popular choice for the working executives for its affordable prices and trendy styles. They grew quickly and expanded into the heartlands. Hair Inn went on to establish 10 outlets across the island. gathering a regular following who continues to grow with them till today.
Lea and Lily firmly believes that hair dressing should be an affordable service, extended to young working adults who needed to look good without lavish spending. When asked about the secret to their continued success, Lily speaks with humility and simply smiles: “There’s no secret, it’s simply the sincerity in service that keeps us going”. To date, Lily herself serves her customers, not because of manpower shortage, but to stay true to their service promise towards each customer.
With their 11th outlet in the plans, Hair Inn prides itself in being economical but never compromising on service quality. Every stylist’s cut takes an average of 20 minutes, unhurried, always sincere and priced at the same amount regardless of seniority.
It is no wonder why their regulars keep coming and they keep growing, even after a decade of service. For sure, this humble salon isn’t going to be quiet for long.
